OpenSquilla 0.5.6: Browser Use (Beta) and stronger long sessions
🦐 OpenSquilla 0.5.6 focuses on core bug fixes, better long-session compaction, and Browser Use (Beta), with reliability improvements across tasks, connections, local files, chats, previews, models, and Desktop.
🧠 Compaction and long sessions — manual and automatic compaction now share model-aware budgets that account for instructions, tools, and attachments. If summary generation fails, bounded history recovery can keep work moving without replacing saved history, while active input and pending tool work remain protected.
🔄 Tasks and connections — Gateway reconnects, durable delivery recovery, Stop, Queue, Steer, Goal continuation, and provider streams are more reliable. Bounded database work and history reads reduce blocking during recovery.
📎 Local files — file selections that previously appeared to do nothing are fixed. Selected references show short filenames before and after sending, including after reload or editing, while full paths remain available to the Agent and for copying. Large text pastes now become text attachments.
🌐 Browser Use (Beta) — Desktop can browse and interact with pages through its built-in browser tools and Workbench. This early Beta complements rather than replaces the system browser and is not available in the standalone WebUI.
⚙️ Models and thinking — model settings gain scoped thinking controls, model-catalog refreshes respond faster, and compatible provider stream endings and interrupted responses are handled more cleanly.
💬 Chats and previews — new chats and their first messages stay visible in the sidebar, conversation and activity presentation is clearer, and Workbench previews are no longer limited to eight open items and can survive temporary renewal failures.
🖥️ Desktop — Gateway startup and second-instance activation are more resilient, first-run setup is clearer, Gateway diagnostics are consolidated in Settings, and Windows Safe setup prompts and macOS terminal cleanup are fixed.
Upgrading from 0.5.5: quit Desktop and the Gateway, back up the active profile, install over the existing installation, and upgrade clients and Gateway together. Configuration, chats, Agents, memory, and schedules remain in place. The retired background-music player and experimental Router self-learning are removed; legacy compaction budget and model/provider overrides no longer control compaction, while explicit total-time budgets remain supported.
Checksums are provided through the .sha256 file and SHA256SUMS.
